  Delicious authentic Filipino food . Been coming here for years each time I visit my family in New York . I love the " karinderia" buffet style and the price are reasonable . It has groceries , snacks and household items too .

  This was my first time here.  The woman at the register rang up a family and I was next.  I slid my tray in front of her and all of a sudden she picked up her phone and started reading the screen.  She never looked up but I know she knew I was there.  She just kept on reading her screen.  I almost asked "did jesus just text you, what's so interesting?" but I seriously wanted to see how long it would take before she acknowledged me.  I stood there staring at her for 45 seconds.  That's a long time in retail world to be ignored!  
  There were basically no vegetables in the pancit - mostly noodles.  
  And the beef in the Kalderta was very fatty.  
  The bean hopia is good though, thankfully.

  Is there a zero star rating?  That's what I'd give.
  Be careful.  Pricing is arbitrary.  Check your order tickets.  Although they have  "combo" prices posted, they are complicated with a lot of exclusions.  It was meant that way to confuse you.
  
  I asked for a full order of one entree yesterday.  My sister ordered the same entree as part of their "combo".  I was given 2 measly pieces of the meat with an extra heaping of sauce in a bigger plate to justify the "full order".  My sister got the same  2 measly pieces of meat in a smaller plate with less sauce.  Does more sauce justify double the price as a full order? No.
  Hygiene is poor. The same people who ladle and serve the food are the same who clear the tables and handle and take the tips.  I do not see them washing their hands nor wearing gloves when switching roles.
  
  Examine what you buy from their grocery.   Read the expiration dates. Once my friend wanted to buy a baked product and found molds. Luckily she did before buying and pointed it out to the owner who simply took it out of the shelf nonchalantly.  I'm surprised the health department has not cited them.
  When I complained, I said I will never be back.
  And the owner said she doesn't mind that.  I suppose she is relying on all of you who don't mind being overcharged,  in an unhygienic venue, with expired food items,  to be back.
  Never say never?  No, this time I take exception.
  I can get Filipino food so many other ways in so many other venues.

  I've been coming here for nearly 25 years, and it's always been consistently good.  Taking my kiddies here after visiting my Dad at Holy Rood nearby, it brought me back to going here after mass with my parents.  I told my kids stories of what I'd eat: a half kaldereta, a half kare kare, and 3 bowls of rice.  My son has memories of coming here when he was a toddler, and the chicken tinola brought him back to those days.
  Filipino food is like a warm embrace from a good friend.  It's not elegant looking, and it's not really 'gram worthy, but it hits the spot and can trigger fond memories.
  Guiradelco's, to the uninitiated is good homestyle filipino food, without having to travel to Queens and battling for parking in Woodside or Jackson Heights.  It's a definite visit when we're in the area.

  I wanted to venture to a another Filipino place and wanted to take my family here and I so regretted it... I get the atmosphere is laid back but the food was less than appetizing... I usually go to Manila hut and I should have went with my gut.. food was dry and every time I went there they never had Shanghai eggrolls or pork bbq only for "catering", but they did have a better halo halo... food was not horrible but for a Filipino spot it could have been much better I was very disappointed especially that it was for my mom. Also usually the follow question to people who just dined in ur establishment would be "how was experience or the food".. nope they only want to collect the $$... but that will b the last time I go to that place . Go elsewhere or make the effort to go to queens where there is much more Filipino restaurants!!
